Russ & Barbara Marlow Memorial

Russ was AutoZone’s primary Automotive Technical Specialist. Over the span of his 18+ years at the SSC, he has been the gatekeeper of Trustworthy Advice from an automotive technical perspective. Whether directly or indirectly, all of us and our teams have worked with Russ at some point. Russ cared about the integrity of AutoZone, as well as AutoZone’s image in the market place. He has left us a long legacy of quality work we can all remember him by. Russ was someone who people gravitated toward, not only because of his extensive knowledge, but because he was a kind person, who would always greet you with a welcoming smile. He was steady in the execution of his work, and thorough and deliberate in his pursuit to solve any problem he was tasked with solving. Sadly, Russ was taken from us suddenly be a pulmonary embolism around 6pm the evening of Monday Sept. 3rd. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara, a son, a daughter, and 3 grandchildren. Tragically, Russ and Barb has just completed a move to a new home in Arkansas only a few days prior to Russ’ passing. It was Russ’ wish to be cremated, and Barbara has carried out his wish. Due to his sudden passing, and being in a new place where they were yet to meet anyone, Barbara has made the decision not to have a ceremony, as she nor Russ had any religious affiliations. Having shared this news, Barbara is in need of help. She is only a few days into a new home, 2.5hrs away from all she has known for the last 18+ years, and they were planning to be dependent on Russ’ AZ income to meeting their expenses until he was eligible to retire and collect his Social Security next July. Barbara not only lost a loving husband, but also a provider. In light of the tragic circumstances, members of the Content Team have set up a GoFundMe account in hopes that at least some of the many of us who knew and loved Russ are willing to now help his widow in his absence. The link to the GoFundMe page is below, and every cent of the funds donated will go directly to Barbara. Given there will not be formal ceremony, the Content Team will be organizing an event of some kind in the coming week for those who would like to gather to remember our longtime friend and co-worker Russ Marlow.
