The Rachel Packet is what I consider to be a Mom profit organization! In 2000, I had a little girl with Down syndrome. My doctor gave me the diagnosis, and the prescription to just take her home and love her. That was a given, but part of love is helping your child become the best they can be. I set out on a mission to find the resources she needed- running into very outdated, shocking and sad information that no new mom wants to see. Lost in a sea filled with unwanted information, I started finding the help we needed. As my daughter got older, I realized times hadn't changed. The resources should be given to you at the time of any developmental diagnosis. That is when I started the Rachel Packet.

It contains all of the resources for our area. For. Early intervention, to support groups, to special (positive) books on parenting/ discipline- even reading material for the sibling. All in one packet.
This is all done voluntarily. This organization consists of me, myself, and I. I rely on an agency to help me with the design and printing. Several other agencies help me with the footwork. Any donation is a huge help!
Rachel has also been diagnosed with autism. She uses a communication to speak. There are so many services to help our children reach their full potential. We do not know how beautiful and amazing a flower can grow, unless we give it the love, care and attention it needs- and stand back and watch it grow!!! Because every child is worth it!
I'm also planning to use to the donations to fund iPads with communication apps on them to donate to families with Non-verbal children. Rachel also has autism and is non-verbal. After removing Rachel from school and homeschooling, I starting to research ways to get her communicating. Rachel started using a communication app on her ipad less than a year ago'- and it has changed her world. After seeing the change in her life- I want to give the same opportunities to other families with non- verbal children. I want to provide iPads with communication apps to those that need them- and offer education and support to help implement them into the children's home and school environment. All done at no expense to the families!!!
