James Medical Expenses
James is my 10 year old little son. He has faced lot of medical challenges. He is such a loved little guy and we want to make sure he is able to get all the medical care that he needs. James spent 27 days inpatient at Children's in Birmingham. James was born 8 weeks early due to a intrauterine stroke. It caused a grade 3 brain bleed and his cerebral palsy. He has also been diagnosed with Dystonia, Cortical Visual impairment, Seizure disorder, Sensory processing disorder, and severe Anxiety disorder. During his last hospital stay, we were told that James has an underlying degenerative condition. They have not pinpointed exactly what it is. He is needing genetic testing to find the cause. Over the past 6 months, James' neurological skills as well as physical skills have been in a drastic decline. Without the testing we will not know the reason. His mental stability has also been compromised. This last stay at Children's was primarily to stabilize his behavior and adjust his medications. James' doctors recommended that he be on a very slow and observed titration of his medicine. Some of these medications can cause a lot of side effects if we didn't titrate them in a very careful manner. Our insurance company cover NONE of his stay in the psychiatric unit. Each day on the psychiatric floor cost $3,500 PER DAY. We had no choice but to continue treatment because James was unsafe ( according to his doctors to return home) James stayed 27 days on the psychiatric floor. We had genetic testing done and insurance will not be cover but a small portion. The testing is extremely important because we have to find out what is going on at a metabolic level in order to treat him. We are asking for help because James' health and well-being is more important than our pride. It is hard to ask for financial help, but were encouraged to make this Go Fund Me by friends and family.
