Surgery For Pennyman

3 years ago, almost to the day, a tiny kitten was trying to enter the front doors of the elementary school that I worked at. Someone was going to take the kitten to the pound and I said, “one of my best friends fosters cats, I’ll take the kitten.” I decided that I would, instead of my best friend, foster the kitten. Within the car ride home, I knew that instead of fostering, I’d end up adopting the kitten. Once I decided to keep it, I knew I needed a name. At the time, my best friends told me that it was a girl, so I named her “Penny”. Once we found out that she was actually a he, one of my roommates decided to call him “Pennyman” until I found another suitable name. So the rest was really history. Fast forward to this past Saturday (9/1/18). Pennyman was acting strange at home so I decided to take him in to the vet. As soon as they saw him, they knew right away that he was blocked. This is very typical for male cats, as their urethra isn’t as wide as females. Most cats are fine with a catheter inserted. Most cats get unblocked after 48 hours. Pennyman is not most cats. On Monday (9/3/18), the vet called to inform me that Pennyman had reblocked. Because Pennyman isn’t like most cats, he will need a surgery known as “Perineal Urethrostomy”. I am already $3000 in with his emergency vet bills and can not afford the surgery. However, if Pennyman doesn’t get the surgery, I will have to put him down. This cat has been with me through the ups and downs of the last 3 years. He is more than just some cat or a pet; Pennyman is my family. I don’t ask for much. I work hard for the things that I have. But I need your help. I need help from my friends and family and the community. Anything will help. Please help Pennyman get his surgery. I can’t bare the thought of day without him.
