I'm Cour, a queer & nonbinary creator making & breaking stuff from my studio in Chicago, IL. I'm a frontend web developer & UI designer, as well as an award-winning illustrator dabbling in visual novel game development.
I also have severe major depression & PTSD as a sexual & abuse survivor—some of which I've struggled with in periods ever since I was small. This past year, my health took a sharp dive. Enough that I went on medical leave from my last employer to enter a partial hospitalization program (PHP) to treat my depression. It was, frankly, a life changing experience—so when I began noting severe symptoms again last month, I re-entered the program, even without the support of my employer.
While I am in this program, I cannot work full or regular hours. The program has incredible resources for finding work, so the goal is that I'll leave the program with more concrete job prospects (among with my health).
Just having some financial stability while I'm in this program would, no joke, really help my recovery.
Breakdown of costs:
$3000 - the deductible from my health insurance (after which, the program is covered by insurance 100%)
$600 - for paying down a credit card, so I can have the line of credit again in case of a near future emergency
$1400 - medication copays, utilities, groceries, etc for the remainder of the program
I've heard from my doctors & therapists about a million times that I have a hard time being vulnerable & asking for help. I legit hate asking y'all for this—& I do need the help.
