Help Fred With Stroke Recovery

As many of you might know by now, Fred Tomlinson had a series of TIAs (mini strokes) and a small stroke in the Pons area of his brain stem in mid August. This stroke resulted in weakness on his right side and speech problems. While the prognosis is good for his recovery, requiring much concentrated determination and hard work on his part, Fred has been unable to return to his job as a radio announcer and his duties as a trivia host as of yet.

Although I have been covering the trivia hosting in the evenings, caretaking Fred during the day, we have subsequently lost one evening of trivia after his stroke, and since he's not on the air there is no income from his radio job.

If all of the medical issues weren't enough, our only means of transportation broke down today. We have no idea what all of the issues are with the car, but we're hoping it can be rendered operational again as Fred's recovery depends on us getting him to all of his therapy and doctor's appointments.

In addition to that, we are finding it impossible to make ends meet; that is, to pay the bills that are due, put gas in the car (once it's running again) and still afford food to eat.

We are very hopeful that Fred will return to the profession that he has loved and excelled at for 40 years. If for some reason that's not possible, it will take some time to be approved for disability (we're really hoping for the former). We don't love doing it, but we need to prevail upon the kindness of friends to help fill in this gap until we can get back on our feet again.

If you can spare anything, it will be so helpful, and ease this stress that Fred is weighed down by, so he can concentrate on healing and moving forward.
