If you would have asked me a year ago what I would be doing after graduation, the last thing I would ever say was YWAM. The summer before high school, I gave my life to Christ on the top of Chestnut Peak in Bozeman, Montana. Throughout high school I went to youth group and church. It was important to me. Until senior year of high school. I stopped hanging out with the kids from youth group, and joined a new group of “friends”. I became quite rebellious and started to party. I went to Bethel University in the fall. However, on my freshman floor once again, I got into the wrong group of friends. For the first two and a half years of college my friends were all party friends. I struggled a lot with feeling like I didn’t know who I was. God was out of the picture. After graduation from Bethel this spring, I still had this strong sense of not feeling like I knew who I was, or what my next step was. A few weeks ago I had a total heart change. I cut out the toxic people from my life, deleted phone numbers of party friends from college, deleted the majority of my social media, and broke up with my ex. None of those memories, or pictures I posted were who I was. I felt a huge weight was lifted. That night I felt God calling me to do YWAM. I know it in my soul that this is something I have to do. I was having a rough day at work, so I called my mentor and told her that everything that was happening. She told me that God put it on her heart for me to do YWAM. I told her I had the same feeling the night before. So I call my mom, and she also felt God put it on her heart. Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a global movement of Christians from many denominations dedicated to presenting Jesus personally to this generation, to mobilizing as many as possible to help in this task, and to the training and equipping of believers for their part in fulfilling the Great Commission. My heart is incredibly passionate about this opportunity to grow in my relationship with Christ, learn what it means to be a disciple, and to join a Christ-filled community. An integral part of the YWAM program is fundraising for your tuition cost for schooling. The overall cost of tuition is $7,500 USD. Not only will fundraising money go towards my room, board, and tuition for YWAM, but it will also go towards the cost of our missions outreach (the last two months of our 5 month program) where we take everything we’ve learned in discipleship school and go to a different country to share the Word and love of Christ. God has completely changed my heart, and I ask if He leads you to, to please consider investing in my journey to better know Him. Blessings, Savannah Bortner
