Help For The Bennett's

How do you start a story that you wish was just a bad dream? My name is Angela Hodgson and I have had the pleasure of knowing Michelle, Justyne (picture above), Chris and Alex since 2009. Our kids played hockey together for Fort Henry in the Church Athletic League. Over the years we would watch each others children grow and advance in their extra curricular activities and catch up on all the adventures our children would have us go through while waiting for them to finish their interests. I always praised Michelle, as she was a single mother with 3 kids and was always attending school activities, sporting events, running them from here to there, all while working and providing food on the table and a roof over their head. I can remember the day I found out the devastating news that Michelle was diagnosed with Stage 4 inoperable breast cancer. She was so young and so were the kids. Their story continued to get worst. Michelle started palliative chemo but had to be hospitalized due to illness. Justyne, Chris and Alex's dad stepped up and moved to Kingston to be a part of the children's life and help out. Michelle's cancer spread to her liver. She was unable to work, little to no income coming in and a van that did not work. The generosity of friends and family were pulled together to help Michelle fix her van and help pay for life nessecities. Struggles continued as Michelle has no benefits and her disability kept getting delayed. Bill's continued to come and another diagnosis that the cancer had now spread to her ribs. Michelle was doing her best trying to keep up with her 3 teenagers but very thankful that their father was around to help and to now introduce to them what the future would be like when Michelle lost her fight. Then the unthinkable happened. Justyne 14, her twin brother Chris and her older brother Alex 16 lost their father Dave suddenly to a massive heart attack two weeks ago. How much can these children handle? The support that Michelle thought would be there for her children is now gone. The financial help gone. The father of her children gone. These kids need our help! They need to know their community supports them. They need to know they will never be alone, they need our help now and for the future. I am requesting help from everyone please. Michelle needs our help to get through this and provide some normalcy for her children. We are trying to keep their routines as normal as possible and continue them in the sports and activities that they love to do. School is starting this week, they are now all in high school together and will have costs associated with that. Continued appointments at the hospital for Michelle to help preserve as much time as she can to be with her children but that cost money too. All money raised will be going to Michelle, Justyne, Chris and Alex to help with bills, medical expenses, school expenses, groceries, gas and an educational fund for the 3 children. All money will be withdrawn and given to Michelle directly. Please help me help them, my heart is breaking for this family. Every little bit will help. Thank you for taking the time to read their story.
