Pedro "JR" Lara

My Name is Patsy Lara and I am Pedro Lara Jr. Mother. I will be the one withdrawing the funds and also setting up an account just for my Son ....... There is HOPE.....and that HOPE is in each and every single one of us! I want to explain to anyone who comes across our beautiful Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin,Nephew ,Grandson that his compassion and care to brighten any and everyone’s day is just a small part of his amazing life. If you know JR personally or were able speak to him in passing you know exactly what we are talking about when we say he can instantly bring a smile to your face. Unfortunately on August 18,2018 our family went through one of the toughest days we ever had to go through with the news that our beloved JR was being rushed to the ER. What started as an intense headache, later progressed into him going through unbearable pain in his head. We were told later that evening that JR was suffering from a blood clot that was located on his brain stem and needed immediate surgery to release the pressure in his brain.
The doctors had told us without the surgery his chances of survival were very low. JR has now gone through a series of medical procedures and remains in a coma. Every little sign of movement we see in him and every bit of good news restores our faith in the power of prayer and we know he is inching his way back to us. We know with all these hospital bills that are expected to pile up there are going to be some expected and some unexpected costs. Our family asks if you can donate any amount possible to help with bringing our beautiful boy back to us and most importantly send your prayers and kind words. If you are able to share JR story on any of your social media platforms we would greatly appreciate it. I’d like to explain a little bit about the kind of human being JR is. JR is a very loving, helpful and a kind hearted person that would put your needs before his own. JR works for Kaiser Permanente where he loves helping anyone he comes in contact with. He was constantly making new friends and touched the hearts of so many along the way. This is just who he is, someone that has so much life in him that wants to share all his happiness with whoever he comes in contact with. This is something that just came so natural to him. If at anytime he noticed you were having a bad day he would make it a point to make sure he made you feel better about yourself and told you everything was going to turn out better and brighter days are ahead and to NEVER GIVE UP. If JR came across a patient that had not received visitors he would go down to the flower shop and picked out the most beautiful flowers and gift them to the patient while he sat there brighting up there day. He always knew how to turn someone’s darkness into sunshine. At Kaiser they present recognition awards for nurses for being a Sparkling Star were patients can nominate a person. I am proud to say JR has been the first non-nurse to receive this reward numerous times. Below is an example from JRs peers and patients on the type of person he is...
