Mario Villarreal unexpectedly left us.
Even though we are devastated by his untimely passing, his memory lives within and keeps us going.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruby, a sister, a daughter, beautiful grandchildren and a nephew he mentored.
Remember our youth at the San Ysidro Boys Club?
Remember his green Capri sports car? He lent it to me on occasion, which reflects the generosity I will never forget.
I'm certain everyone reading this has treasured memories of and with Mario.
Remember the adventure of going to "Mario Enrique's" house to pick him up before a big night out? I'm sure Burrito does.... Victor? Nacho?
And for those of us that were lucky enough to share 80's new wave concerts with "Mario Speedwagon" the last few years, WOW!
As a professional, Mario was a hard working dedicated employee for the City of San Diego for 28 years. He gave Victor and I a guided tour of his facility once and his eyes were beaming with pride.
Although raised in San Ysidro, he loved IB Living but his heart was always in Baja Mexico.
Mario was a highly intelligent person who had many interests including restoring cars, off-roading, cool 80's music and more importantly, his family.
As humans, we aren't always perfect and sometimes what is really important to us can get out of focus. I can guarantee every single member of his family this; He loved you more than you will ever know. He bragged about his Ruby, sister, daughter, nephew and grandchildren. I was fortunate enough to feel the love he had for all of you.
During this difficult time, we are asking you to help Ruby and family in offsetting the numerous expenses related to this unfortunate event. I am sending this request to you since I know you have been part of Mario's life. We can honor the effect he had on us by helping his family during this difficult time.
