Hope for Ray

UPDATES:  WE NOW HAVE A DIAGNOSIS OF ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS. I KNEW IT!!!!!!!  Ray has been receiving care from multiple doctors over the past couple of months WITH YOUR HELP!!!! We now have several diagnosis including AS, Crohn's, resistant hypertension & anemia. We have a pending hyperactive thyroid condition & possible CHF symptoms. Ray is on multiple medications for his conditions including Humira FINALLY :)  It cannot reverse the damage already done but it CAN help the Crohn's subside and maybe find some remission with that. He is hunched in a close to 90 degree angle forward which is causing multiple strains/stress on his heart and lungs. He has a decreased pulmonary function but remains strong that treatment will follow. He has an echocardiogram, aquatic therapy and medicinal treatments scheduled for the future. We are in the process of moving states for future healthcare. Your continued prayers and donations are definately needed and welcomed. GOD BLESS YOU FRIENDS & FAMILY. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<3 <3 <3 As many of you know, Ray has been battling many health issues since 2006, including Crohn's disease & a severe crippling arthritis. Since 2009, his health has continued to decline. He has been hospitalized twice due to gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia, malnutrition & resistant hypertension. As his wife of 19 years, I believe with all of my heart that Ray has not been properly diagnosed. I have researched these diseases and I believe he has what is known as Ankylosing Spondylitis. He fits every sign and symptom. I need assistance in getting him to the correct specialist so that treatment can begin before any other irreversible spinal damage occurs.

Ray has been to multiple doctors over the past several years. Very few have taken an interest in his case. He has been declined treatment, numerous times, due to no insurance and the inability to pay. We do not have health insurance and cannot afford any type of subsidy from the government. We do not qualify for Medicaid or any other type of government insurance. We are in the process of filing for disability services for the second time as well. Financial means of surviving for our family have become extremely difficult. Living a normal life has become near extinct. Our bills are past due. Our housing situation has changed about 10 times in the past few years due to inability to pay. Ray goes weeks without medications because we cannot afford them. One medication alone costs $500.00 a month!

Trying to explain Ray's condition & prognosis to our 14 year old is one of the most difficult parts of having a parent with such a disease and disability, especially when we are not sure exactly what his prognosis is. Our son has watched his father go from 230 lbs., one of the strongest men i've ever known, to 120 lbs and cannot stand with his heels and head against a wall, simultaneously. It is a crippling, progressive disease. It is not curable but it can be manageable with certain medications.

I know there are physicians out there that can help him. My plan is to get Ray to UAB hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. My hope/goal is to raise $5,000.00 for medical treatment & care. Anything you can do to help in this effort, whether in the form of a donation, simply sharing this with others, or saying a prayer for our family, will be greatly appreciated.
