Litre of Light; Enkanini
Donation protected
Litre's of Light Enkanini is a project to install at least 300 lights in the informal settlement Enkanini, South Africa. Enkanini does not have government funding, therefore there is no electricity. Unfortunately people must rely on kerosene lanterns, due to this and high summer temperatures many fires are started and hundreds of shacks burn down.
Litre's of Light would provide a safe alternative for light within Enkanini and the local residents would be trained to install it themselves, which would ideally stimulate a small local economy.
The lights are meant to promote education, as our priority while there is to instal lights in the homes where children go to school. If the water bottle light is installed this will provide a safe place for the children to do their homework without risk of a fire.
If properly funded, we will have videos made of the process, and training videos for others to do it themselves.
