My name is Rachel De La Torre , and I am an occupational therapist and the owner of Sunshine Sensory Gym. I have worked as an occupational therapist for 15 years, including 10 years serving students in local schools.
I created Sunshine Sensory Gym to provide a safe, inclusive space where children of all abilities can play, move, swing, climb, explore, and engage in sensory-rich experiences using specialized equipment designed to support their developmental needs.
Throughout my years working in schools, I have seen firsthand how many teachers and therapists purchase sensory tools and adaptive equipment out of their own pockets to help support their students. Through this fundraiser, I hope to give back to our local schools by helping provide sensory supplies and adaptive play equipment for children who benefit from additional supports during the school day.
Items such as adaptive swings for children with core instability, wobble stools, sensory seating, fidgets, and other therapeutic tools can make a meaningful difference in helping children participate safely and successfully alongside their peers.
This fundraiser is not for Sunshine Sensory Gym. Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting local schools and classrooms through their PTA organizations, where funds will be used in collaboration with teachers and service providers to purchase tools and equipment that best meet the unique needs of their students. Our goal is to provide support to schools with both general education and special day classes throughout our community.
Please note: this fundraiser is not affiliated with or sponsored by Woodland Joint Unified School District. It is simply a community-driven effort led by an occupational therapist, small business owner, and most importantly, a mom who believes every child deserves access to the supports they need to thrive.
Thank you for supporting our local children, educators, and service providers during the Big Day of Giving. Together, we can help create more inclusive and supportive learning environments for all kids.
