Amy Chouinard & Jim Hinnebusch

As many of you know by now, Jim fell from a ladder while working on July 31st. He was airlifted to Harborview Trauma Center in Seattle, intubated, and underwent several surgeries to repair shattered wrists, a broken neck and back, as well as seven ribs. He has lost sight in one eye, a traumatic brain injury, a punctured lung and pneumonia. Jim will require months of rehab following what will still be a long hospital stay. Insurance only covers so much, and not nearly enough of the rehabilitation he will need. He may never be able to return to work in the same capacity that he has for most of his life.

As anyone who has ever met Jim knows, he is genuinely one of the nicest and kindest, calmest and gentle people you will ever know. He is the real deal, a good guy, a good man. He would do anything for anyone; and now he is in need of support and help from his friends and community.

Both Jim and Amy have made friends and kept friends, nurtured relationships had small businesses on Bainbridge and in Seattle. They are part of so many of our lives; and what has happened could happen to any of us.I have known Amy & Jim for almost 35 years, from before they were married, in-love and raising two young boys together. Amy and I were in the construction/mortgage business and Jim was an electrician starting out with his own small company.

Jim was working as an electrician, as he has for 40 years, when he fell. He is self-employed and will not be able to return to work for some time. In the meantime, the stress of worrying about bills and money concerns is overwhelming. Jim must stay focused on healing, on his physical therapy, and regaining his abilities.

We are hopeful that the community of friends that Amy & Jim have built over many years will come together to contribute whatever they can to help them through this time and give Jim the peace of mind to be able to heal.

Whatever you can give Jim & Amy and their families will be immensely appreciated! Please share this on your personal Facebook page and with any others that might be interested. Thank you.
