Welcome to Chi’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
Since June 30th, Chi has battled an unpredicted, long and painful course in the hospital and at home. Her intestine herniated into her pelvis where it became strangled and she had 80 cm removed. Septic shock almost killed her during her weeks in St. Patrick Hospital ICU. She suffered multiple complications, including renal failure, five washout surgeries, tissue death in her toes, abdominal infection, deconditioned immobility, and malnutrition.
The good news is she is home in Rock Creek with home health for the next couple months. She has daily IV antibiotics, dressing changes, and a continuous wound vacuum to carry during her impressive efforts to walk and hold down nutrition.
