Linda Lico's Breast Cancer Struggle

Linda Lico is a dear friend and highly regarded colleague in the Social Work field with many years of strong, compassionate, and tenacious advocacy for the educational and human rights of special needs individuals, children and families and the mentally ill Unfortunately, due to the timing in life and her tenure with her new employer (being under one year), Linda has little accrued medical leave and is not eligible for FMLA.

Linda has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is in need of immediate medical intervention. As a single mother, of a special needs child, her financial worries are many and she requires and deserves support during this time of a health crisis and need of surgery. She will need additional treatments (yet to be determined) and this will take time and much support. Let us all for a moment stand in her shoes with mercy, empathy, and generosity as we reach into our hearts to give her support, food, visits, and monetary contributions to ease her mind of the financial worries that burden her at this time. It is the circle of friendship, prayer, and warmth of fellowship that God asks of us when we are in need. Please give generously so that there are no worries for either Dylan or Linda at this time. “There are times in our lives when friends and family ask, "What can I do to help out?" The answer is usually to help them with a meal etc. For Linda and Dylan, what they need is loving support and someone to promise to be there for a few hours each day during the week following Linda's lumpectomy. A visit, someone to talk to, a loving and helping hand. Do you have a few hours to help them out? They will be so grateful.”
