Love 4 Lucas!

I created this fund for my dear friend and former employee, Roxie Romero, and her precious boy, Lucas! Lucas was born on August 10, 2010 with a rare, genetic condition: Congenital Heart Defect. The defect means that the entire left side of his heart completely shuts down. Lucas lived in the CICU at the Children's Hospital in Denver and underwent two heart surgeries before he was six months old. He has been in and out of the hospital for all of his three and half years.

Because of the extensive care that he needs, Roxie has not been able to return to work for any length of time. Now that that Lucas has grown, he needs his third Open Heart Fontan procedure. This procedure will not only treat his heart, but will help his little lungs work properly and filter his blood. Eventually, he will require a heart and liver transplant.

Despite his condition, Lucas is a happy, active boy! He's only three, but he acts like he's ten! He has a large vocabulary and is very friendly and outgoing. He makes friends with everyone he meets!





This precious little family will be traveling to Denver on January 7th for Lucas's procedure. They anticipate at least a month's stay.
