Her battle was long & hard and she fought until the very end, but her fight ended last night, as she was taken as heaven's newest, most beautiful angel. A few weeks prior to Christmas, our sister-in-law, Tina, was taking her son, Larry, for an appointment when she experienced overwhelming pain in her side. Concerned for his mom, Larry brought her straight to the ER. After multiple days of testing, on December 22nd, the doctors diagnosed her with Acute Myloid Leukemia. Almost immediately, Tina began her first round of intense chemo therapy, which caused her even more pain and suffering. With no positive results, her team of oncologists determined that another round was in her future. Feeling as though they were on a rollercoaster of emotions, our brother's family received false hope, as she went into a very short period of remission. Within a few short days and a series of blood tests, the cancer had returned. Three more times, she struggled through chemo, with hopes of making her way to Dana Farber for the chance at a bone marrow transplant...but unfortunately her time never came. Last Thursday she was put on Comfort Care, and fought for five long days, while surrounded by her loved ones. Late yesterday evening, with her husband, Larry, her daughter and best friend, Lindsay, her son, Larry, & his long time girlfriend, and all of her family...Tina made her way to the heavens as our newest angel. Although Tina will live on in the hearts of those of us who loved her, our brother, niece & nephew have a long and emotional journey ahead. As you can imagine, this terrible tragedy has not only drained them emotionally, but financially, as well.
