Fred Lackaff

On Tuesday evening July 31, Fred was Life Flighted to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland after a bicycle accident in  Nehalem. He was unconscious with a serious brain injury. He spent 5 days in the neurological ICU and since has been upgraded to the Trauma Care ICU. Fred continues to make slow but steady progress. He has more and more times of wakefulness and says a few words now. No one can predict the ultimate outcome, though of course we continue to be optimistic that he's coming back to us. Nevertheless, it's going to be a long haul, including months of rehab. Fred is covered by Medicare and Medicaid so it looks like his major medical expenses will be covered. Still, there will inevitably be a host of side expenses as Fred recovers, and for those who would like to contribute to a savings account to help with those emerging bills, we say, many thanks.
