Medical Funding for Cocoa Doucet

On August 11th, 2018 while taking part in an auction in Mississippi, Cocoa Doucet suffered a major heart attack. Luckily, also at the auction, were three off duty nurses who diligently performed CPR for 45 minutes before paramedics would arrive. Cocoa was then transported to the local hospital before being air lifted to Hattiesburg Forest General.  Initially, doctors said “I’d be shocked if he will walk away from this…” This news devastated our family for fear of losing the most important and strongest person in our lives. However, thanks to the amazing nursing staff and doctors providing care for Cocoa in ICU over the course of three days, he was able to overcome the odds and woke up from the sedation on August 14th, 2018. As far as Cocoa has come in the last few days, he still has a long road of recovery ahead. Cocoa still has numerous blockages and his heart is only operating at 20%. Doctors have advised that his heart is beyond repair and that they will need to discuss further options at a later time, and until then, Cocoa will not be able to work. Unfortunately, although Cocoa has worked hard his entire life, due to the nature of his work, he currently does not have any medical insurance, disability insurance, retirement, or social security to fall back on during this difficult time. Cocoa and Janice (Cocoa's loving wife of 35 years) are now faced with, not only unforeseen medical expenses, but the reality that they no longer have any source of income. Anyone that knows Cocoa and Janice knows that they are the most selfless, caring, and loving people you will ever meet and always go above and beyond to help anyone in need, and are too humble to ever ask anyone for help. We are initiating this Go Fund Me on behalf of Janice and Cocoa in an effort to ease the financial burden they have been faced with.  All funds raised for this campaign will go directly to Janice.
