Hello, my name is Ernest Okwuonu and I'm currently a student of AUC school of medicine in St Maarten. I plan on becoming a medical doctor, with the ultimate goal of becoming an oncologist specializing in further cancer research. I am the oldest of three children and the first to go to medical school in my family. I lost my dear father to multiple myeloma, which is the cancer of the bone marrow in February 2013. He had always been a source of inspiration, support and encouragement to me all my life. His early demise has only hardened my resolve to achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a medical doctor, hereby also honoring his memory.
I have successfully completed my first conditional semester in which I funded personally with my entire savings, a testament to my dedication and determination to achieving my dream. I have put in a lot of hard-work and effort in the midst of hardships to get to this point in my life and want it all to come to fruition. I have tried to secure a student line of credit from the banks to help fund my program but to no avail. This is mostly due to the fact that I do not have strong enough cosigners, as my Dad, who would have helped me in this endeavor, passed away due to complications arising from his cancer. My family have done the best they can towards my funding, but it is not enough. In order to ensure that there are no breaks and my 100% focus, I will need need more funding. The entire 4 year program costs about $150,000. I have been given only a few months off to help generate funding as my deferment is only till April or I will have to forfeit my dream of becoming a medical doctor. This has led me here to ask for your help to help fulfill this dream by donating anything you can.
