Save the Rote Family Home

We are not a family who likes to ask others for money. We prefer, instead, to help others in any way we can when they are in need. My mother has helped people her entire life and has engrained that philosophy in me. We always lend a hand when we can just out of the goodness of our hearts. We never expect anything in return, but now we can only hope that someone — anyone — has the compassion to help us when we cannot even help ourselves. We are a family of four children raised by our single mother who has worked her hardest to provide for us. It is not easy to parent on your own, but she has been determined to do it and do it well. In today’s world, sadly, one’s best and hardest work can often be not enough. To avoid sharing very personal details about our situation, we are, put simply, facing financial hardship. Due to this, we are in very real danger of losing our home of 21 years. As anyone who inhabits a living space knows, there are various costly expenses that can be hard to pay each month. Among many of those expenses is our mortgage bill that we have been coming up short on since our financial hardship began. It is very painful and heartbreaking to be in this type of situation as a student who wants to finish her last year of college in hopes of attaining a decent paying job to help pay these bills. It is hard as a daughter to watch her mother continue to fight and push through, even though it leads her in circles. It is hard to see the person who normally goes out of her way to be there for others struggling herself and in need of the assistance that she has provided for others. We have hit the end of our options, and I never wanted to have to make one of these and explain our situation and ask others for money; it’s just not something we do. Because our financial situation is out of my and my family’s control, I will not feel right until I try to do something to help. Therefore, I have made the hard decision to call upon others and ask for any possible donations — in even the smallest amounts — that can help save us from losing our home. Foreclosure is not something I want my family to have to experience, especially my mother who helps people before she helps herself and the children for whom she has fought to have a good life.
