We have reached our goal!!! Thank you so very much! We should be good till she's out of rehab.

She's still fighting, please help me stay by her side.

On November 23rd, 2013, my wife, Krista, became deathly ill with multilobar pneumonia. She struggled to breathe and her blood oxygen levels were barely enough to keep her alive. Krista was also diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, or ARDS. ARDS is a severe, life-threatening reaction in adults to injuries or acute infections in which the lungs become inflamed and gas exchange is drastically impaired. Krista was not getting enough oxygen to her organs. After four days of Krista being transferred from room to room and placed on different breathing machines with no progress, her blood oxygen level dropped to 40, a lethally low level. She was admitted into the MICU where she was placed into a medically induced coma and intubated. She was drowning from the fluids in her lungs.

Although they didn't say it at the time, many of the nurses and doctors did not believe that Krista would live through the night. By God's will, her fighting spirit, and everyone's prayers, she is still with us struggling to get better. She has come very close to losing her battle several times, and even acquired a second pneumonia infection from an Acinetobacter bacteria (a hospital acquired, ventilator associated infection) which she is still fighting today. Through these struggles, her family and friends have stayed positive and continue to pray.

At 4am on Christmas morning, Krista woke up and began responding to the nursing staff. When Ben her son and I came into her room that morning she smiled and mouthed "I love you," a true Christmas miracle.

I have been unable to return to work, as I am a cross country truck driver. often I slept in the ICU waiting room for fear of not being there when Krista needed me most. More than a month of not working and living off of our savings I am now broke.

That is why I am asking for your help. Krista is still in the hospital , still fighting, and just wants to go home. Even after she beats this sickness, she is going to need months of therapy to regain normal functions for everyday life. I want to be able to stay with Krista to keep her positive and for her to have a home to come back to. Your prayers and any donations, big or small, are greatly appreciated. Thank you, God bless
