Here we go again...!

My name is Emma Fitzgerald.
In 2016 I was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and since then I have become completely paralysed, depending on 24/7 nursing care to carry out my everyday needs. I am fully ventilated, which means that I rely on a machine to breathe for me. I now live at home in a fully adapted bungalow with my mum and my mischievous dog Maisy.
Prior to my illness, I had realised my dream of becoming a consultant anaesthetist, working in several hospitals across the south of England, helping countless patients and their families through the most difficult periods of their lives. As well as this, I have always been passionate about traveling, photography and outdoor sports such as skiing and running.
My condition means that I am no longer able to pursue these passions and dreams. Imagine having everything and it being cruelly taken away from you. This is what has happened to me. Despite this, I am trying my hardest to live my life to its fullest.
Last year we raised money for myself and a team of staff to go on a cruise, which is the only way I can now travel. It was a great success and a feel good experience to share this with friends. A big thank you to everyone who made this possible by donating and participating in the holiday.
I would love to do it all again by going on another cruise next year. To make this possible, I need to raise money for the following: 4 nurses, 4 carers, myself, insurance and medical equipment rental (hoist, bed, oxygen cylinders, shower chair).
Thanks in advance for your support.
