Help Vanessa’s Children

On the morning of Thursday, August 9th, 2018, our dear friend Vanessa’s world was turned upside down as she was blindly pulled out of her home by immigration in front of her three children. She was taken to an overcrowded detention facility where she was told she would be jailed and sent back to Guatemala. Vanessa was in the middle of an immigration case in which she had been advised that she was legally okay to be in the United States (where she has been living for the past 18 years). Faced with the choice of fighting this injustice behind bars in a federal prison and not being able to provide for her children, as the case worked its way through the system, or being deported, her lawyer recommended she take the deportation. Her three children ranging in ages from 10-15 are U.S. citizens and are devastated not knowing when they will see their mother again. Vanessa is a single mom, the father is not in the picture at all. Vanessa is a kind, generous and loving 33 year old woman whose greatest pride is her children. I couldn’t imagine being in her position and I wish her all of the strength in the world. Her kids will be living with relatives. Please help us raise some money for her three daughters as they are in desperate need. In a country that claims freedom for all, this administration continuously demonstrates the opposite and rips families apart. Our hearts go out to Vanessa and her children. Please help us to help them - no amount is too small.
