Hello family and friends. :)
This is a site I've designed for any donations you may like to give towards my upcoming trip to Africa this summer. To give you a brief scoop, I've had the desire for many, many months now to travel abroad to a country and be exposed to a culture that I've never experienced before, more specifically to participate in a clinical medicine volunteer program. As most of you know, I'm a pre-med, Physiology junior at The University of Arizona and I plan to pursue medical school. A lot of work as an undergraduate includes having clinical experience, such as shadowing physicians, volunteering, etc. The purpose of this is to really allow students to see what the medical field entails and to know what they're getting into by becoming a physician.
After searching through many organizations, I finally came across the right one, TAI Africa Electives, and plan to travel with other U of A students to Mombasa, Kenya in Africa. Here, I will be able to gain an extensive amount of hands-on medical experience where students aren't able to come across these types of opportunities until well into medical school. I will also be volunteering in the local orphanages and interacting/helping the underprivileged, which I'm really looking forward to as well. I've chosen to do a 4 week program this summer and am now setting myself a goal of raising $2000.00, which is just the fee of the program. Please do not feel obligated to donate in any way and for those that are able to donate, any amount would be greatly appreciated. If you'd rather give non-monetary donations, I'm also collecting supplies such as: medical gloves, thermometers, stethoscopes, or chalk, crayons and toys (for the orphanages).
