Defibrillator

Donation protected
On the eve of February 8th, at the age of 39, my father Richie Bell suffered a sudden cardiac arrest whilst out training with his Gaelic Football Club on Carramore pitch.  Only five people out of 100 will survive a Cardiac Arrest. Unfortunately, despite prompt CPR by both club members and medical professionals they were unable to regain a heartbeat. His death was pronounced at the scene that night.

A sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere at any time. The question is… Could you be the one to save them?  It could be your spouse, your father, your brother, your friend, your teammate, or a stranger. Please help!

Hollymount/Carramore GAA Football Club are trying to raise funds to purchase a defibrillator that will be installed outside the newly refurbished Carramore dressing rooms. As my fathers 25th anniversary is soon approaching, we are hoping to raise much needed funds via this page, but we need your help!

Over 325,000 people a year die from an out of hospital cardiac arrest. With effective CPR and the use of an AED, a persons chance of survival is significantly increased. Growing up with a sporting background and a career in cardiac nursing I feel it is vital that an AED should be readily accessible in all public areas, especially in places like sporting grounds, where an individuals fitness and heart function is tested to their absolute maximum. I would be so grateful if you were happy to donate any small amount to help our family and Hollymount/Carramore Football Club to raise enough money to purchase and maintain an AED, provide valuable training to a set number of individuals in the local area and host an information/awareness night for anybody interested near or far!

This project is especially important to me and my family, having lost somebody so dear and hope that our friends, family, teammates or neighbours never experience the same. In the unfortunate event of a similar situation occurring in your presence, I hope that by having already installed a defibrillator nearby that a life could be saved.

So basically I’m on a mission to do two things:

1.Raise enough funds to set up a defibrillator outside Carramore Football pitch dressing rooms.

2.Promote and arrange an information/awareness night on how to perform CPR and the use of an AED in the event of a Cardiac Arrest.

Thank you for all your help! And please remember that no donation is too small!
