My name is Yolanda. On April 21,2017 my worst nightmare happened. While I was 5 months pregnant and having severe back pain, I drove myself to the ER. While I was waiting to be seen the back pain got extremely unbearable, I started walking around the waiting room as I felt some comfort by doing so, I started feeling faint, I then sat down and as soon as I sat down my legs got numb, I asked my oldest daughter to call for medical assistance. Nurses came immediately with a wheelchair and wheeled me into a room. Once I arrived to the room I wasn’t able to get up and get on the bed. Several tests were performed which revealed a mass on my spinal cord. I was transferred to the Medical Center in Downton Houston for an emergency surgery on me, however; the damage was already done, I was paralyzed from my chest down. I wasn’t able to get intense therapy because I was pregnant and my insurance wouldn’t cover for more. I am creating this Go Fund Me account in hopes to be able to get a stem cell treatment and a electric stimulator implanted as well as intense physical therapy. This is by far the most promising treatment I’ve found. Since I became paralyzed I’ve been turned down by many doctors and surgeons who all give me zero hope, I am a mother of 5, giving up it’s not an option! I need to recover! I need to at least get enough therapy to be able to care for my children, to be there for them, to be the mother they can relay on and the one taking care of them not the other way around. This treatment is my only hope, but it’s beyond expensive. My husband is the only source of income and at this time he has been missing days from work due to my doctor appointments and the full care of our children which is causing low funds. Mi nombre es Yolanda Luna, en abril 21, 2017 mi peor pesadilla se volvió realidad. Tenía 5 meses de embarazo cuando empecé a sentir un fuerte dolor de espalda y me fui al hospital, mientras esperaba en el area de emergencias el dolor era insoportable y empecé a caminar ya que así sentía un poco de alivio, al poco tiempo sentí que me iba a desmayar y le dije a mi hija que llamara a una enfermera, en cuando me senté inmediatamente se me durmieron mi piernas, la enfermera trajo una silla de ruedas y me llevaron a un cuarto, al llegar al cuarto ya no me pude levantar para recostarme en la cama. Después de varios exámenes me dijieron que encontraron una masa en mi médula espinal y que era necesario operar ugente. Fui transladada el Medical Center de Downton Houston donde ya el cirujano me esperaba, cuando desperté de la cirugía el doctor me dijo k habían logrado remover el cuagulo pero que el daño ya estaba hecho y que yo jamás volvería a caminar que estaba paralizada de el pecho hacia abajo. La razón por la que eh creado este GoFundMe es porque existe un tratamiento que consiste en una laminectomia con injeccion de células madres y un implante de estimulación eléctrica y terapia física intensiva ya que debido a que cuando estaba embarazada mi terapia física fue muy limitada y por cuestiones de politicas de mi aseguranza no fui aprobada por mas. Este tratamiento es hasta el momento es lo más prometedor que ay para lograr mi sueño de volver a caminar o al menos recupérame un poco y así poder atender a mis 5 hijos, ser la mamá que ellos se merecen y cuidarlos en lugar de que ellos sean los que tiene que cuidar de mi. Hasta el momento los doctores no me habían dado esperanza alguna pero no me voy a dar por vencida, tengo 5 niños chiquitos que necesitan a su mamá y darme por vencida no es una opción! Les pido que porfavor se pongan su mano en el corazón y donen lo que les sea posible y si no pueden al menos compartan esta campaña para que llegue a más gente y si poder lograr la meta.
