Please Help Save Otis’s Leg!

Otis is our survivor. We rescued him as a kitten. He lost his eye due to an infection. He is the best cat. But this weekend he got hit by a car. He only has 3 options...surgery, amputation or euthanasia. We are going for SURGERY! It’s $5500... Any help is greatly appreciated for this amazingly beautiful, loving and gentle cat. He had to have his eye removed 2 months ago and now this happened and we are devastated. We have been told that his chances of making a full recovery with surgery are great.

4 years ago Otis came into our lives. We had just found out our family dog “Duke” of 12 Years had an in operable tumor had to be put down. As you can imagine we were all devastated, especially Cera my 5 year old grand daughter at the time. A few days later almost divinely sent, a small orange kitten was meowing under a car in our driveway. We took him in Otis Jenkins “OJ” for his orange color and he quickly became the family cat helping ease the grief of the family and of course Cera. We got all his shots and had him neutered. Otis’s has a strong spirit. One of Otis’s unique traits is that he is unbelievably affectionate, maybe from all the love he has received since being rescued. For some reason he loves being held like a baby and having his chest stoked and scratched as he purrs continuously. Recently he has had some bad luck. A year ago he lost sight in his right eye to an infection and then two months ago the eye was removed. This past Saturday he was possibly hit by a car. The only option is to operate or amputation. Amputation was not advised by one veterinarian due to shallow hip sockets. Operation was advised by another veterinarian who tried to set the leg and splint it, but was unsuccessful due to the severity of injury. He said that Otis would have a full recovery and live a normal life with the surgery. Please help us in any way. Anything is greatly appreciated and you would be saving a loving affectionate cat who still has a lot of life to live.
