Greg Harland has been a part of the Bloorcourt community for 20+ years. In his time here he has made many friends and is well known in the community. If you know Greg you know he’s a sweet guy whom everybody loves. He’s the kind of guy nobody ever has a bad word to say about. Oh, that guy.
Greg’s had a bit of a tough year. He was downsized from his job of many years three and a half years before retirement. A ridiculous and insensitive blow from his employer whom he worked for many years for. In spite of that he’s kept his spirits high. And now he has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in an advanced state.
I’ve spoken to Greg a lot over the past few weeks and watched the warm and loving support he’s gotten from our community. Now comes the hard part - treatment that will surely be hard, scary, lonely, and energy zapping. Remember, this fucking sucks! In other words, the struggle will be ongoing, and he needs our support beyond the diagnosis. And so, we are asking for money because money is the last thing he needs to worry about. Money is a real and palpable thing that we can all make a difference with - even if we can’t afford much. Greg needs to concentrate on getting well, and beating the cancer.
We’ve already started gaining support, and we’d like to thank Ross Serpa and the crew at Hurricanes Roadhouse for the very generous offer of 50 cents from every House Lager sold between now and Oct 15th!
And please don’t forget - whether you give it now or in a few weeks, it’s good - give a bit now and plan on giving a bit more again. Let’s help all we can!
