Help for Linus

Linus is a black lab mix who escaped from his owner's yard late night on December 23rd. Despite huge efforts, nobody could find him that night, but first thing in the morning his pictures appeared on Facebook.
Apparently the victim of a high-speed hit and run, Linus was spotted on the side of the road by the amazing people at Villalobos Rescue Center in the early hours of the morning on Christmas Eve. They rushed him to the emergency vet and posted pictures of him in an attempt to find his owners. Fortunately, it worked, and Ben was reunited with his pup.
Linus has suffered massive head trauma and bodily injuries, and wasn't able to stand on his back legs or open his mouth to greet him, yet still recognized his owner when he saw him. He isn't fully out of the woods yet, but the people at Metairie Small Animal Hospital are doing all they can to save this sweet boy and bring him back to health.
The bill for even the first few hours of care was over $1000, and the expenses are still rising. Even after his immediate survival needs are taken care of, Linus is going to need a lot more medical care and potentially long-term rehab to get him back up to snuff, which is more than his owner can afford. Nobody ever wants it to come to the point of having to decide whether or not to go ahead with Linus' treatment based on immediate financial ability.
I started this page as a friend and neighbor of Ben & Arielle & Linus, and as the owner of one of Linus' dog buddies who misses him a great deal and wants him to come home and play again.
