My beloved husband Tony George (aka Anthony George, Stony from Point Loma Landscape) of Ocean Beach/Point Loma is requesting help to raise money for medical and dental bills associated with his cancer healing. My loving husband was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago. He had a 5cm squamous cell carcinoma tumor in his face located in the succuss
(under the skin between his salivary gland and cheek). This type of cancer generally starts in the lungs or bronchial airways but in his case, began in the face.
At the beginning of his journey, the doctors wanted to cut open his face and remove the tumor. This operation would leave scars over his entire face. He opted for chemo and radiation with the guidance from the tumor board to shrink the tumor before they operated. Thankfully, the 300 hrs of chemo and months of radiation treatments were successful and his tumor dissipated. His surgery did not result in the scarring that he originally thought. And as a result, I am immensely proud to say that he IS CANCER FREE. Which is by far the most important gift to receive. Now that he is cancer free, we are now faced with new health challenges.
We need to raise funds to help pay for his teeth and lung treatments. Because of the long hours of radiation treatment on this face and neck area and chemo, the treatments have caused tooth, jaw and bone loss and showing fibrosis of the lungs. Most urgently, we have to get major dental work to get his beautiful smile back. For those who know Tony, he had a beautiful smile before his diagnosis but now he can't smile because his teeth are gone. It is going to cost us $ 10,000 to get all the bone graphs and dentures complete. He is also going to need hyperbaric therapy, lung treatments and a hip replacement to continue healing.
I think when you are diagnosed with Cancer, your life can never be the same from that day forward. It has been a scary time through this healing but at the same time, it has been a transitional time to reveal your true self in the depths of treatment. We hope that with these generouse gifts, we can get his oral surgery complete at the end of March 2016.
It is with sincere gratitude that we thank you for your kind thoughts, love and support.
