Thank you so much for visiting my page. Your support means the world to me.

Six months after losing my leg in a motorcycle accident, I was back on the snow. I may be from Alabama, but snow is no stranger to me. My Dad first took me skiing when I was 7 as part of my girl scouts program, and I was hooked! After I lost my leg I thought that I wouldn't be able to do anything, but my Dad found out about the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah. The NAC teaches people with disabilities how to ski and snowboard. Of course, I tried skiing, and honestly, it was terrifying! I switched to snowboarding, and it was exhilarating! For the first time since my accident, I could do something just as well as other people. Regardless, I never imagined that I would be asked to join Team Utah Adaptive Snowboarding a year later.

Two years ago I moved to Utah to train full time with the team. It's been an amazing experience and my coaches and support system have done so much to get me to where I am. A lot has changed since snowboarding was added the Paralympics last summer. This season is especially crucial for me as I'm competing for a spot on the US Para-snowboard and Paralympic Teams. Until I make the team, all of the expenses and fundraising are on me.

This year I've been invited to all of the North American races, which consist of 2 World Cups at Copper Mountain, 2 World Cups at Big White, Canada, Nationals at Copper Mountain, and an IPC event to finish out the season at Copper Mountain.

(2/4/14) I was named to the US Paralympic Team to debute in the first ever snowboarding event in the Paralympic Winter Games.

I was fortunately able to use the left over money I received from last year's fundraising for my training expenses, but here's a break down of what I need to raise for the rest of the season.

National Ability Center Athlete Season Pass = $375

Copper Mtn World Cups:
Lift tickets/ Season pass= $100
Race starts Entries = $100
Training Day = $ 30
(4) Nights @ hotel per person= $228.98
Transportation = $250

Canadian World Cups:
Athlete Package (hotel, registration, food, lift tickets) = $700
Transportation = $600

Aspen Camp (training camp prior to games)
lodging and lift tickets: $300
transportation: $250

Paralympic Winter Games:
I don't have the details yet.

Nationals and IPC race:
Details are unknown at this time, but expenses will probably be similar to the other Copper Mtn races.

Thank you again for viewing my page and for your love and support. Without it, I wouldn't never made it this far. It may seem like a clique, but really, it's what keeps me motivated when my training schedule has me exhausted.

Thank You,
Megan Harmon
