Celebrating Mama Faybiene

Donation protected

It is not everyday a single person's being is able to touch so many. Faybiene Miranda also known as "Mama Faybiene" was that person. An internationally renown published writer and poet, Mama Faybiene has taught in the arts for the past 30 years. Her work has also been translated into French & German and has been featured by Black Theater Canada for the production of a children's theater performance along with selected works by Maya Angelou in a theater production focusing on women. She has also worked on numerous community activism projects in the United States and Canada. Her voice could be heard weekly on WBAI as co-host and co-producer of the Global Medicine Review with renowned holistic practitioner, Dr. Kamau Kokayi. She has worked at Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy since inception, as a teacher in all areas of Ifetayo programming. Her life and her legacy was filled with her love for children, family and her community.

We have lost a true angel. Thank you for being our teacher, sister, friend, confidant, empress, mother, colleague, champion, cheer leader and angel warrior. You made music with words and your words will live in the hearts of all whom you have touched forever.
