Our Story
We are a group of neighbours living in Phibsboro, Dublin 7 and the surrounding areas who have come together to raise funds to support an Afghan woman, facing persecution and threats to their life, to be resettled in Ireland under the Irish Refugee Protection Programme. Our Phibsboro Community Sponsorship Group was established in December 2024. Phibsboro For All has also successfully completed a community sponsorship project, welcoming another Afghan individual to Phibsboro in February 2024.
Our Mission
Through one of our members, we became aware of a woman whose life is at risk if they remain in Afghanistan. Supporting her to reach safety is something we wish to do.
Our steering committee of thirteen people is working to facilitate her safe resettlement to Ireland. All group members have had engagement with the refugee context in one way or another, through community, professional and academic work and through personal contacts.
