Holiday Assistance for J&A

Donation protected
Many of you know my friends Jeff & Angelo. They are a generous couple who have had a run of bad luck. To cap that off, this week Jeff's scooter was stolen from in front of their home overnight. So they have no transport other than MARTA.

I am trying to raise $1,500 or better for funds to acquire a 150cc or better scooter OR a safe, running, jalopy of a vehicle that will pass emissions and a clean title. Nothing fancy - just transportation.

WHY?
J&A are two of the most honest and generous people I know. They had spent the prior two weeks putting together decorations and setup and breakdown for a Toys-for-Tots fundraiser (which raised over $2K) which finished the day before their scooter was stolen.

In Atlanta, personal transportation is almost a requirement. MARTA is inefficient and untimely. Without a personal vehicle, most of your spare time is spent commuting.

Jeff has been working two or three jobs to maintain their household and Angelo is in year three of battling cancer. In spite of that, they have remained generous with their time and talent helping others "“ as many of you are aware.

So please give what you can to help.

WHAT?
The more the better in terms of vehicle options. Any excess donations would be used for upgraded insurance (i.e. theft) and fund for repairs/maintenance.

J&A have gotten by on a scooter for the last year or so and they can continue to do so with your help. I would love to raise enough to be able to fund the safe-running-jalopy option. I would feel much better with Angelo able to ride in a more secure, weather-proofed means of transport than a scooter given his limited mobility from being beaten up by chemo and radiation treatments. But that goal would push a little over $3K "“ if you're up for it.

HOW?
What I am doing here is likely to piss them off a little. So I need as much participation as possible to spread the anger for getting unsolicited help to as many co-conspirators as possible. But in my opinion "“ for two folks who have given so much to charity and others over the 25 years I've known them, deserve some back.

Thanks for your help!
