MA in Screenwriting, Univ of London

I have been accepted into an incredible graduate program in screenwriting at Royal Holloway, University of London.

For the past few years I have been working in film. I've worked in feature films, short films, television, music videos, webseries, and commercials. I even launched a production company last year that was used in a number of productions. And though it may have seemed somewhat glamorous, and though I am grateful for the experiences and employment, one of the glaring truths I've found is that in order for me to truly bring about my dream, and to have an honest career in film -- I need a better education.

I'd like to make movies of my own, create positions to assist other's careers -- crew and talent, and I'd love to make films that are not only entertaining, but enriching to society.

I have applied for a number of scholarships and grants, sent petitions to philanthropic groups/individuals, and applied for government loans.

Here is a short overview of what is offered to the students of the program:

- in the fast-changing world of digital drama, new media and new film markets, students become skilled in producing strong and original fiction writing.


- the course director and lecturer in film is Sue Clayton, a practising screenwriter/director who has projects in development with a number of producers including Donald Ranvaud, producer of City of God and Executive Producer of The Constant Gardener. She has written and directed a number of fiction films including The Disappearance of Finbar with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, and the BAFTA-nominated Heart Songs.

- teaching television is screenwriting lecturer Adam Ganz, whose TV credits include Pillow Talk and Murder Without Motive; and guest lecturing in television are Gillian Gordon, Susan Rogers and Jonathan Powell.

- you will meet and work with industry and independent producers, directors, agents, writers and actors to provide a production context. We have recently had guests from Working Title, Channel Four, the BBC, Script Factory, Blake Friedmann Agency and many others.

The program only accepts a handful of students each year and I was honestly a bit shocked I was accepted. This opportunity is truly a once in a life time chance!

I still hope for a scholarship. But I also know there will be additional costs such as: travel to the UK (plane tickets, train tickets), visa costs (including medical exams + required travel vaccines), and basic living/college fees that will not be covered by a scholarship.

The whole amount seems daunting to me, yet I believe in making impossible things possible and through little things are great things brought to pass. :)

I know there are so many people in real need, simply desperate for basic living requirements. This isn't that kind of urgent, but it will change my life's course -- and in the process, it will enable me to improve, enhance, and change the lives of many, many others.
