Ashley was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer on Sept. 11, 2017. TNBC is an aggressive form of breast cancer that has a poorer prognosis and higher rate of reoccurrence than other types.
Ashley will need to undergo a modified radical mastectomy, chemo therapy, and radiation. Despite the long road ahead, the doctors are providing a small window in between surgery and chemo in order to retrieve and freeze healthy, viable eggs so she and her fiancée can start a family after treatment.
While Ashley's treatment is covered due to her current military service, this procedure and the subsequent storage are all out of pocket expenses.
