Jennifer's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this.  This Gofundme is set up to help my mom, Jennifer Poole, with her living and medical expenses.  As some of you know, she has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks, and Saturday 12/16/2017 doctors found a large mass in her colon, most likely cancerous. This has been so very stressful on my mom and our entire family. We have endured weeks of being uncertain of her condition and watching her endure so much stress and pain. She has had to go through multiple tests, painful procedures such as drains, a blood transfusion, and pricked too many times to count for blood tests.  Not to mention she has only eaten twice the entire time she has been in the hospital.

We are still waiting on tests to come back, so there are some uncertainties. However, we do know the mass has been there for a while.  It was so large it was almost obstructing her colon.  The doctors had to put in a colostomy, hopefully temporarily. On Tuesday or Wednesday of this week (12/19) we should know more about what we are dealing with when pathology comes back. The plan is for her to do chemo and radiation to shrink the tumor, and then remove it. She will need 2 to 3 weeks to heal before she can start the treatment, and we will not know much about how far it has spread or what stage it is at until after she has had time to heal.  Since the tumor has been there for a while, it very well could have spread.  No other masses have been found yet, though, and her lymph nodes seem normal thus far. So there is hope.

My mom is not one to ask for help, or share her personal struggles.  She is the kind of person who bends over backwards for her friends and family, and expects nothing in return.  She is far too proud to ask for help, so that is why I am doing it on her behalf. Times were already tough, and had been for a while before she got sick.

I am not going to go into much detail, but I will make a few comments to bring to light the full situation.  Her car will be taken this week. Due to other debts and living expenses she has fallen behind, as so many of us have.  Mom works two jobs to survive, and still does not make very much money. This makes it impossible to catch up on bills.  We are not certain when she will be able to go back to work and will most likely lose her second job. I have seen my mom struggle for so long financially, and now we will have a mountain of medical bills on top of her crippling debt.

We are in the process of applying for FMLA at her main job, so that will help.  We will be missing income from her second job, but hopefully with the combined support of this project and family, we will get by. I should also mention some of this money raised will be used to pay for legal fees to help remove the financial burden mom has been under for so long.

Okay, enough of the sad stuff for a moment. I apologize for the long rant, but stick with me.  For anyone who knows Jenny, you know how hard working, loving, and caring she is. I went to her work today, and was just astounded at how much love and support she got from so many departments and colleagues.  Our family adores her, and she has done so much for all of us whenever we have needed it. I am certain my family members could share endless stories of her compassion.

She is also an incredible mother.  My sister and I have always felt nothing but love and support.  She has always accepted me for who I am, no matter what.  She continuously tells us how much she loves us and how proud of us she is.  Whenever I need someone to talk to, she is there.  I know too many individuals who do not have that kind of love and support in their life, and I am so grateful to have a mother like mine who has been so strong and encouraging.

I could go on and on about how amazing she is, but I will wrap this up for now.  I will continue to post updates on her condition and any major changes.  The money raised here will go towards her living expenses, gas to drive to and from chemo and other treatments, and to help with legal fees to release her from her financial burden.  If you cannot donate, we completely understand.  It is the holiday season, so money is tight. If you can donate, however, it will be so greatly appreciated no matter the size of the donation.  Thank you all so much for your love and support.  We will fight, we will not give up, and we will beat this terrible disease.

Sincerely,
Ethan Poole
