Bahamas Hurricane Relief Effort
“Please help us support the victims of hurricane Dorian”
Hi, my name is Demetrius Ferguson and I’m a citizen of the Bahamas. I’m currently living in Halifax N.S., Canada. My heart has been broken for my country, we’ve been devastated by the recent hurricane Dorian. Our country is in great need of help from everyone around the world. We need encouragement, prayers, donations and supplies to help my people get back on their feet and help the country rebuild. Bahamians everywhere need to come together to be strong for one another, as human beings we need to support our brothers and sisters that are affect by this tragedy.
I’m going to fly home to the Bahamas to help as much as I can, and this money raised will be used help those affected directly. I’ve been in contact with local organizations, churches, and a few leaders who are leading teams of people on the ground helping. Our country is in need for anything and everything that can help us in our time of need. I’m asking for your help, the help of everyone. You many have visited for vacation, know someone personally who’s been affect, or know of a friend who’s close to victims who has been affect by the hurricane. We’ve all have connections to the Bahamas in some sort of way.
All money raised will be used to purchase supplies to be donated and handed out to communities, and people affect on the island of Abaco & Freeport, Grand Bahama. Supplies that will be purchased and are needed immediately are listed below:
-Non perishable foods
-Dry foods
-Canned foods
-Baby food/formula, wipes, diapers
-Blankets
-First aid supplies
-Water
-Water filtration devices
-Wet wipes (Sanitary Cleaning and Baby)
-Tarps
-Generators
-Women's hygiene kits
-Hand sanitizer
-Gloves
-Large garbage bags
-Air Mattress
-Meals ready to eat
-Toiletries
-Mosquito repellent
-Cleaning supplies
-Batteries
-Mini propane tanks
-Tents
-Baby clothes
-Clothing for adults
-Hand soap and bath soap
-Towels
-Flashlights
-Sheets
-Battery operated radios
-Simple medicine (over the counter)
We need as much help as we can get. We can band together and rebuild the Bahamas. We’re a country of very strong people. We’ve been through these disasters before, but nothing like this. We’ll stand together and bring the Bahamas back again #BAHAMASSTRONG
