Medical Mission to Honduras!

¡Hola Amigos!
As my interest in world travels continues to thrive, so has my love for medicine, health AND volunteer work. I have been offered an amazing opportunity to be a member of a group of local medical professionals who will travel abroad in June 2014 in order to offer medical assistance and education to an under served population of people in Central America. We will be working in mobile primary care/urgent care clinics in rural communities in Honduras. For five days our group will be treating a wide variety of medical complaints spanning from malaria to gynecological issues. We will be sharing our group's vast and diverse knowledge of medicine as we know and understand it. Most of the patients seen will be women and children who are unable to seek medical attention on their own, lack the knowledge to understand their own health concerns or resources to find that information. We will be coming to them; we will deliver our services to their front door, and we will do it with an open heart and a smile on our faces. Our group plans on setting up shop in a joint effort to get these people whatever help we are capable of providing in order to ensure they get the medical and health services, and the education they need or desire. This project of providing medical care abroad has its challenges and there will be obstacles to overcome, but we are so excited and inspired to see what this new found love for humanitarian medicine will bring not only to the incredible groups of people we will have a opportunity to serve, but to our lives as well!

As with most volunteer missions all airfare and accommodations need to be paid out of the volunteer's own pocket. Your donations will allow me to participate in this wonderful medical mission and will hopefully inspire others to do the same.
