Please help us fundraise for Elizabeth "Liz" Cocker so that she will be able to compete with the United States Deaf National Swim Team at the 2019 World Deaf Swimming Championship in Sao Paulo, Brazil this August! This is such an incredible opportunity - let's help her achieve this goal!
Ever since Liz was diagnosed as being profoundly deaf as a baby, she has let nothing stop her from being successful in life as well as in the pool. Swimming since she was 7 years old, Liz has excelled in butterfly and freestyle. Recently, she graduated from California State University - East Bay with cum laude honors and was selected Student-Athlete of the Year.
In her first two collegiate seasons at American River Community College, Liz broke 2 school records in the 100 and 200 Fly, as well as qualifying for the State Championships in both years. She became a 7 times All-American and received two scholar-athlete awards. She also received High Honors every semester for two years.
In the Summer of 2015, Liz competed at her first international swim meet at the World Deaf Swimming Championships. During that meet, Liz became an American Record Holder for the 4 x 100 Mixed Medley Relay and a bronze medalist for Team USA. The USA women swim team took 2nd place at the Championships in the gender category.
In the Fall of 2016, Liz transferred to California State University–East Bay and continued swimming there. In her last two colligiate seasons, she competed at the Pacific Coast Swim Championships in Southern California where she successfully became the finalist in all of her events. One of her highlighted moments with her East Bay Team was during her junior year where Liz broke the Deaf American Record for the 50-yard butterfly event.
Now she has earned the opportunity to swim for Team USA in her second World Deaf Swimming Championship! Please help Liz to compete at one of the biggest meets of her life!
Thank you SO MUCH for your assistance in this - we are thankful for any and all help!!
