5th Grade Library Books

 Anna Engelbrecht, Chelsea Marcelin, and Laura Mufson are all 5th grade English teachers at Claremont Immersion School in Arlington county.  We teach our kids reading and writing!  As teachers, it is our job to get children excited about reading and help them feel confident in their reading and writing skills. In order to do this, we use a varety of chapter books, nonfiction books, magazines, picture books and more! As a low income school, we want to ensure that all of our students have equal access to new and exciting books! Over many years in a classroom, books can become tattered, ripped, old, or outdated. To meet the needs of all of our students, and with the demands of high classroom sizes, we as teachers strive to keep our shelves filled with rich, multicultural, and thought provoking literature to enhance the academic experience of all our students. These books are used in classrooms, but also are meant to be shared with families and students at home.


We are raising money to get new books for our classroom libraries this year!  We want to continue to encourage our students to read and to enjoy reading by providing them with ample options to read in school and at home!

As teachers, we spend much of our own money building these libraries over many years. Please consider donating to help us maintain and update them!!Even a small donation of $10 could put a new book in the hands of student eager to read! Our goal is to raise $1500 (or $500 dollars for each class). This would allow all of our classrooms to gain about 50 new books each!
