The 5th Annual Chesapeake Children's Book Festival will be held on June 13, 2020. The festival promotes literacy and helps launch the Talbot County Free Library’s Summer Reading Program. We bring between 25 to 30 children’s book authors and illustrators from around the country to Easton, MD who give readings, answer questions, and autograph their books. Past authors have included several award winners, and their books cover a wide variety of subjects for children of all ages up to pre-teen. CCBF raises funds to purchase books written by these authors to be available at the Festival. These books will be signed by the authors and distributed to children in our community. Children attending the festival who sign up for the TCFL’s Summer Reading program will be given a voucher (while supplies last) to exchange for a book of their choice. Books are also available for purchase at a discount. CCBF facilitates the give-away, processes the book sales, and manages the community distribution. We hope to continue the success of our previous festivals and look forward to sharing the joy of reading and the excitement of meeting authors with our youngest citizens. Both the Talbot County Free Library and the Chesapeake Children’s Book Festival are committed to increasing reading proficiency through the gift of a book to as many children as possible. The more money we raise, the more books we can give away. Literacy is a human right and the foundation of all learning. As Frederick Douglass said, “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” Please contact us with any questions. Sponsorship levels and benefits are on our website. The Chesapeake Children’s Book Festival is a component fund of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation.
