Help me fight Erica's cancer

Donation protected
I come humbly and with heavy heart to ask for your assistance in what is one of the most trying and difficult times me and my girlfriend have ever seen. My 27 year girlfriend, Erica, has been in Jersey Shore Medical Center Neptune, NJ since February 22, 2019 fighting for her life. Who we thought was healthy, young woman has recently been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer of the blood. Needless to say, this came as quite a shock to all of us that know her well.

To make matters worse, after the first week of receiving Vyxeos, a very potent chemotherapy.

An infection formed in her kidneys and liver causing both to shut down. At the same time, her colon ruptured and emergency surgery was preformed to literally save her life. Going into surgery the doctor's had very few positive things to say about her condition at the time. They would continue to use the phrase "if she makes it out of surgery", when asked for prognosis on information on her condition. One of the nurse even told me "she's probably the sickest person we have In the entire hospital, it's going to be a long/hard process" and I think I speak for everyone when I say no one wants to even hear this about a love one or anyone for that matter.

Thankfully by the grace of God, the surgery was a success and her life was saved but unfortunately this is just the first hurdle in what will be a long term battle for Erica's health. Being that she has been in the hospital for over a month in such a weak state and now sedative state with a respiratory intubation, dialysis, and a colostomy bag. It just hurts me so bad seeing her like this, it honestly made me appreciate life so much more.

I have since had to leave me job and tap into my savings just to be able to be with her on a daily basis. We are working class people just trying to make it week to week before this even happened. It has not only taken a severe emotional toll on us, it's now taking a huge financial toll as well.

Her insurance company Amerigroup has notified us that they will only be covering a certain percentage of the expenses and bills incurred from the treatment she has been receiving. I've been talking to a few nurses and after a month, her expenses are close to $1 million and we still have a long way to go. We have been approached by a cancer help program, that came to see me but weeks later haven't heard anything from them.

We been living in the hospital waiting room off over priced cafeteria food and delivery. Not having personal transportation takes it's toll. We are ready to be there for her, waiting for any and all positive news to come out as to her condition. We are with her as much as they will allow us to be and I don't care how long it will take, we will continue to be there for her during her long road to recovery. Thank you
