Help Buddy with Leg Surgery

This precious boy was lying in our backyard. He was cold, hungry, and suffering with a leg injury, as well as multiple cuts and bruises on his body. We believe he was hit by a car. When I approached him, he got up, limped over to me, and nuzzled my leg. I was undone.

We have tried desperately to find his family. We have contacted local shelters, rescue organizations, posted everywhere on Facebook, distributed flyers, all to no avail so far.

I took him to the vet today to get his leg checked out. They asked me for a name. I gave them the name I keep using when I talk to him.

I called him Buddy.

The vet says he's probably about 4 years old. Seems to be a strong healthy boy. However, Buddy's leg is broken. He has a comminuted fracture of his left femur. This means that the bone is in several pieces. Fixing it will require surgery. The vet said that the swelling in the tissues is stabilizing it right now, but surgery is necessary.

We have fallen in love with Buddy and would like to keep him if his owner cannot be found. But we cannot afford this LIFE SAVING surgery. If the surgery is not done, we may have to make a very difficult decision.

Please, do whatever you can to help so that Buddy can live a long healthy life with a loving family.
