<div>November is also Pancreatic Cancer awareness month which we want to bring attention to and raise much needed funds for pancreatic cancer research and care. A portion of these funds will also go towards prostate cancer. Donation will be made to St. Vincent’s Foundation (RCN: 20001872).

<div>Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers at 3%, the only major cancer with a single-digit survival rate. This is the 11th most common form of cancer, yet it has made little progress in the discovery of new treatments which has widely been attributed to a low level of funding.

<div>There is currently no screening test or early detection method for pancreatic cancer so knowing the symptoms remains the key to early diagnosis. Research shows that patients diagnosed in time for surgery are more likely to survive. Early diagnosis is therefore vital.

<div>Symptoms include:

<div>- Painless jaundice (yellow skin or eyes, dark urine)

</div>

<div>- Significant and unexplained weight loss

</div>

<div>- New onset of persistent abdominal discomfort

</div>

<div>- Persistent dyspepsia or indigestion not alleviated by medication

</div>

<div>- Loss of appetite or quickly feeling full when eating

</div>

<div>- Unexplained back pain, often eased by sitting upright
