A boy and his dog need your help.
My friend Marcos loves his dog Atticus more than anything in the world. The kind of love that is life altering; his life will never be the same. Marcos would do anything for Atticus.
Out of the blue, Atticus is having problems walking. For an 80lb dog, that's a big deal.
Atticus is intermittently limping and sometimes his pain is so great that Marcos has to carry him down stairs. His regular vet cannot pinpoint the source and referred Marcos to a specialist. He's on pain medication for management until Atticus can see the specialist.
This specialist visit/diagnostics is going to be expensive, and Marcos is just a regular guy who works for the city.
The consult fee is $135. and a series of diagnostic x-rays ($350.) need to be taken. That's almost $500. just to get started. If the x-rays are inconclusive, it sort of goes to a "worst case scenario", where Atticus will need an MRI ($1500) and most likely a surgical solution ($3-4k). Looking at numbers like that is a scary place to be for any dog owner.
Marcos would NEVER ask his friends or the rescue community for help, which is why I am setting up this page.
I noticed Marcos was offering up some of his most precious possessions (graphic art prints) for sale on Facebook. It took some prying to find out what was going on. He is trying to raise money to cover what's going on with Atticus. It's not going to be enough.
This young man does his share of work for our local Los Angeles rescue community; taking photos of shelter dogs and volunteering his time to local rescues.
He spent days working on signs for this year's Anti-BSL Rally and has spent hours chasing/catching stray dogs and making sure they're safe. If anyone is deserving of a little extra help with this financial challenge: it's Marcos.
