Michael Hyatt's Malawi Mission trip

Three months ago two close friends of mine, Stuart Shattuck and Mackenzie Robson, told me that God had put it in their hearts to organize a month long mission trip to Hope Village in Malawi, Africa. They invited a few close friends and I to join them. Though I was wary at first to say yes, I realized I needed to take a leap of faith and see what God has in store for me. Once things were in order, we started getting information about Hope Village from Hope Endeavors, the non-profit, non-denominational, evangelical world Missions organization that would be leading us. I began to see what role I might play on this trip.
Hope Village provides medical treatment, education, and a home for thirty orphaned children afflicted with HIV/AIDS, as well as treatment for forty-five other children in the surrounding communities. With only three staff members, one of whom is part time, they are in constant need of volunteers. We would care for their physical needs, such as medical supplies, food, and maintenance, as well as support their emotional needs, educational guidance, and create a fun, peaceful, loving environment for them to play and laugh. My family has been passionate about child development and education since my grand father Tom Cavanaugh began his work as an educator in Cheboygan Michigan, and my Mother and Aunt have endowed me with an equivalent compassion for children. I feel compelled to positively impact the lives of these children and use my gifts to help others. I need to raise $4,800 to go on the trip. $500 of which supplies Hope Village with resources they need, the rest covers airfare, food, and housing for the entire month.
