Parvo Puppies Have Fighting Chance

When a Rescue from West Palm called that they had taken in too many puppies from Puerto Rico and needed help, HALO stepped in without question. Saving lives and working together through great rescue partnerships is what it’s all about. While we never expected this happy moment to turn into fear and heartache, we still feel proud to say we did our best to save them. Out of the 18 moms and babies we brought in, a group of 5 beautiful puppies started to crash. We quickly suspected and tested for the dreaded Parvo virus and they were positive.Parvo, if not treated quickly and with intensive veterinary care, will lead to death over 50% of the time. We did not hesitate to bring all of the puppies to the vet and pray for a Miracle.With good care and the best prayers 4 of the 5 puppies have survived and while they still have a road ahead of them their prognosis is a long life. Sadly, many if not most animal shelters would euthanize an entire litter that tests positive for Parvo. The care is extreme, the finances are high and the prognosis is dismal but with the belief that every life has value HALO will never do less than everything to SAVE THEM ALL.But... we could not accomplish any of it without your incredible belief in us, our mission, and knowing there is a better way.
